SEREMBAN: Just hours after ACA told The Star that it was widening action against corrupt officials, it arrested a Barisan Nasional state assemblyman for allegedly receiving bribes.
Lenggeng assemblyman Mustafa Salim, 50, was nabbed at a restaurant in Mantin soon after he had allegedly received RM2,000 from a developer.
The developer is allegedly involved with sand mining and had sought Mustafa’s help.
The Negri Sembilan Government had stopped issuing licences for sand mining activity over a year ago.
ACA director of investigations Datuk Mohd Shukri Abdul said the agency was closely watching several government departments and agencies for alleged graft.
The agency recently scored success with the arrest of several high-level civil servants and had recently carried out a blitz on Puspakom, the computerised vehicle inspection centre.
