A female Taiwanese singer will stage what she describes as a 'nude art action' in front of the Presidential Office on April 25 to call on the country's leader to place more importance on people's safety and say no to nuclear energy.
"Our body is the most natural and direct weapon, " said 27-year-old Lee Mi. She caused a sensation five years ago by appearing naked, with the Chinese words "rather nude than nuke" written on her back, in a short video produced by a local environmental group.

Lee said at an event on Thursday that as a singer, she feels it is her responsibility to speak out against nuclear energy in the wake of Japan's nuclear crisis, and she hopes her action will encourage more people to join in the effort.
A drama major from National Taiwan University (NTU) , Lee would like President Ma Ying-jeou, also an NTU alumnus, to realize that history should not repeat itself. There should be no more nuclear catastrophes following the Chernobyl disaster in Ukraine and the ongoing nuclear crisis in Japan.
She chose April 25 for her action to mark the 25th anniversary of Chernobyl, which occurred on April 26, 1986.
Lee told reporters her mother is outraged by her decision, "but nudity is not a wicked act or something against morality. For me, it is a way to draw attention to the nuclear issue," she said.
It remains to be seen whether the president will allow this on his office's doorstep. Under Taiwan's Assembly and Parade Law, nudity in public is banned as a protest tool. People can only shed clothing as part of an art action.
Lee Mi may face arrest under the Social Order Maintenance Act, which bans nudity in public altogether.
According to Evan Yo, Lee's agent, her nudity action next Monday will last for only a few minutes.
A local band will accompany Lee's live performance, but they will keep their clothes on.
