GEORGE TOWN: DAP chairman Karpal Singh told former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to take his own advice about not meddling in government matters.
He asked Dr Mahathir to heed his own counsel to Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi not to be involved in the government when the latter retired."He should allow those vying for leadership positions in Umno to go about their campaign without unsolicited advice from him."He said retired prime ministers did not intrude into government matters.
"Publicly attacking Abdullah has not endeared Dr Mahathir to the rakyat. On the contrary, the public does not favour him interfering in government affairs."
Karpal said Abdullah was right not to surrender to Dr Mahathir's demands in relation to mega projects. He said Abdullah had shown statesmanship by agreeing to step down as prime minister in March and should be given credit for having placed country above self.
