KOTA BARU: Kelantan will go all out to assist victims of the 60min storm that hit six out of nine districts and claimed the life of a young girl in Bachok on Wednesday.
Mentri Besar Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said he was waiting for the various community leaders such as village heads and state assemblymen to provide details on the extent of damage before aid is extended.
‘‘We will help everyone affected, including repairing damaged houses. It is sad to see much property either destroyed or damaged.
“The government will do everything in its power to help reduce the burden faced by the victims,’’ he told reporters after attending Hari Raya Adilfitri gathering organised by the Kelantan Mentri Besar Corporation here on Thursday.
Strong winds and heavy rain uprooted trees and left behind a trail of destruction, damaging homes, signboards, public amenities and cars in Tumpat, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai, Pasir Mas, Bachok and here.
In Pantai Kemahang in Bachok, Nurul Ain Ibrahim, 19, was crushed to death after a tree fell on her while she was seeking shelter in a seafront restaurant with her boyfriend Zamri Mustafa. -TheStar
