Men, the next time you are sweating, think twice about wiping them off. This is because according to research, men’s sweat is somewhat ‘attractive’ to women. And this is not based on sentiments made by women but is scientifically proven.
According to a new study by the Tamsin Saxton of the University of St Andrews, “A naturally present chemical in men’s sweat may act as a primitive love potion that increases their attractiveness to women.
The substance is derived from the male sex hormone testosterone.” Saxton conducted the study by dabbling a drop of the androstadienone onto the upper lip of some 50 women before they went out on a date. The results shown that the women rated the mean better when the substance was given and works best among women around 18to 22. The report as published on British newspaper The Independent.
Saxton said "For some of the women we gave them androstadienone and we put it in clove oil solution so they just smelt clove oil. Some of the women had clove oil alone, and the third group had just water so there was no odour at all.
We got the women to mark how attractive they thought the men were on a one to seven scale after they interacted with each man. We found that the women given androstadienone had given slightly higher ratings of attractiveness to the men.
Some people don’t seem to be able to smell it all, some people say it smells OK or a bit sweaty, whereas others say it smells really awful, like babies’ nappies,"
