KUALA LUMPUR: A traffic policeman has been arrested for allegedly verbally outraging the modesty of two women, at a roadblock in Cheras, here.
The 52-year-old policeman, attached to the Kuala Lumpur contingent traffic police, was also alleged to have demanded and accepted a bribe of RM20.
It is learnt the women, aged 23 and 27, were asked to comply with his request to avoid receiving a speeding ticket.
City police chief Deputy Commissioner Datuk Wira Muhammad Sabtu Osman said the alleged incident took place around 1am on Tuesday, during a roadblock along Jalan Cheras, near Taman Midah.
"We received two police reports from the women and have detained the policeman to assist in investigations,” DCP Sabtu said.
He added that if there was sufficient evidence, the policeman would be charged in court.
The case was being investigated under Section 509 and 384 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a woman and extortion. - Star
