Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue assistant director (Operations) Azizan Ismail said firemen arrived within four minutes and put down the blaze about an hour later.
“The cause of the fire is still being investigated but a witness said he saw the fire start at stall selling frozen meat. While fighting the fire, a small explosion also came from a fridge at the stall.
“This led us (firemen) to take precautions against ammonia poisoning,” he told reporters at the scene.
He added that the quick action by his men prevented the fire from spreading to 30 other stalls.
Losses were estimated to run in the thousands of ringgit. – Bernama
