PETALING JAYA: PKR leader Zaid Ibrahim today openly blamed deputy president aspirant Azmin Ali for the irregularities and discrepancies in the ongoing party polls.
He said the root-cause for all the problems in the party, including those faced in the election process, was down to the control held by PKR's supreme leader Anwar Ibrahim and his closest aide Azmin, who is now the favourite to win the deputy's post.
Zaid added that it was time for a change in the party's top leadership if the party wanted to remain relevant.
“Azmin must be disqualifed from contesting in the party polls. He abuses the process and he cheats to win,” said Zaid at a press conference held at his house here.
He added that the Anwar-Azmin leadership was one which always blamed others and won't allow others to strenghten the party.
Zaid yesterday dropped a bombshell by withdrawing from the deputy president's race, citing rampant election irregularities. He also quit all his party posts with immediate effect.
Azmin, the out-going vice-president, holds a healthy lead over his rivals in the race.
Zaid's withdrawal allows Mustaffa Kamil Ayub to offer a tougher fight. So far Mustaffa has been left far behind in the number of votes gained. - FMT
