IPOH, Nov 25 - The Perak Anti-Corruption Agency has opened investigations into allegations of money politics during the recent Umno divisional elections, its director Bahri Mohamad Zin disclosed today.
Bakri declined to reveal how many cases were being looked into but said the investigation papers had all been sent to the ACA headquarters for further action.
“No arrests have been made so far. It all depends on whether there is enough evidence," he told reporters here after opening a seminar on corruption prevention through the control system.
He said the complaints received during the Umno divisional elections in Perak from Oct 9-Nov 9 were the same as in previous elections where payment in cash as inducement was involved.

On a report lodged by Ipoh Timur Pas Youth of corruption in the approval of government allocations for putting up permanent buildings on private and wakaf (endowment) land, Bahri said it was being investigated.
“We will see whether there were elements of corruption. We will be taking statements from the parties involved,” he said, adding that government allocations could not be simply used to put up buildings on private land, the status of which was unknown. - Bernama
