Tanah runtuh Hulu Langat : Kaki 2 mangsa terpaksa dipotong

KUALA LUMPUR - Kesemua sembilan orang yang terselamat dalam kejadian tanah runtuh di Batu 14 Hulu Langat kelmarin dan sedang dirawat di hospital dilaporkan berada dalam keadaan stabil.

Lapan mangsa dirawat di Hospital Ampang manakala seorang lagi mangsa dirawat di Hospital Pakar KPJ Kajang.

Timbalan Menteri Kesihatan, Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin berkata, enam mangsa kejadian di Rumah Anak Yatim dan Anak Hidayah Al-Taqwa itu ditempatkan di wad khas di Hospital Ampang manakala dua lagi dirawat di Unit Rawatan Rapi (ICU) hospital sama.

"Dua mangsa berumur 13 dan 33 tahun kini stabil di ICU walaupun kaki masing-masing terpaksa dipotong akibat kecederaan teruk," kata Rosnah sambil menangis kerana sebak dengan kejadian itu.

Malaysians from all walks of life bring food and cheer

HULU LANGAT: Scores of Malaysians gave up their leisurely Sunday to make a trip to the site of the landslide tragedy, bringing food and drinks as well as hope for those affected.

Pandan Squad Sayang commander Juliana Badri said there was an endless supply of food and drinks from individuals, corporations, ministries and non-governmental bodies.

“About 30 of us have been here since 4.30pm on Saturday, taking turns to receive the contributions and distribute them to those involved in the rescue mission.

“I am really touched by the kindness shown and I am glad to be able to lend a helping hand,” said Juliana, who looked overwhelmed by the support.

Several Yayasan Salam Malaysia members, coming from as far as Shah Alam, Klang and Semenyih, had to spend a night at their Petaling Jaya office after cooking for rescue workers at the site.

Companies like Nestle also set up makeshift stalls offering free instant noodle meals and cereal drinks to help rescue workers keep up their strength.

Sharifah Hamidah Syed Hussin, 54, from Kampung Desa Pandan, said she came to the site with the hope of offering help.

“I found out about the tragedy through updates on Facebook and I was shocked. I wanted to donate to the victims but there wasn’t any channel available here,” she said.

Che Shaharuddin Yunus, who came with his wife and son from Setiawangsa, said the family was praying for those in the tragedy.

“I brought my son along, so he will learn to sympathise over the plight of others,” he said.

Malaysian Hindu Sangam Association Ampang Jaya chairman Suppiah Suppan, who came with three members, said he hoped to lend a helping hand.

He said although the food supply for rescue workers and those affected by the tragedy was sufficient for now, he planned to contact the orphanage in order to provide aid in the future.

“We are here to help regardless of religion because we are all Malay-sians,” he said. - The Star
