BN main kotor?

Nizar berkata, "cuma kita takut Barisan Nasional (BN) main kotor.

Sementara itu, Pengerusi DAP negeri, Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham berkata, beberapa kenyataan Menteri Perak Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir menimbulkan tanda tanya.

- FMT

Perak gives 48 hour ultimatum for EC to reverse decision - malaysiakini

UPDATED
By Shannon Teoh

IPOH, Feb 3 — Perak plunged deeper into crisis today when the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state government declared today that it would give the federal Election Commission (EC) 48 hours to review its decision not to hold the Behrang and Changkat Jering by-elections.

Senior executive councillor Ngeh Koo Ham told reporters today that if the EC does not change its mind, the Perak government would take necessary action.

He declined to say what action would be taken but it would likely involve challenging the federal authority’s decision in court.

“The EC is usurping the function of the speaker and has misconstrued its role. It is there to conduct elections not to decide whether or not there should be an election,” said the Perak DAP chief.

The Perak government appears determined to force polls for the two state seats in order to bring an end to the political uncertainty which plagues the state now.

Perak state assembly Speaker V Sivakumar had declared the two seats vacant after receiving resignation letters from two PKR lawmakers Jamaluddin Radzi and Osman Jailu, who had gone missing last week and were expected to defect to the opposition Barisan Nasional (BN).

But the two renegade PKR men now claim the said resignation letters were undated documents they signed after PR parties won the state in last year’s general election.

The expected defection of the two will result in the state government being left with only a wafer-thin one seat majority in the state legislature.

State PR officials are hoping to use by-elections, which the allied parties are confident of winning, to make the defections moot.

But the EC announced today that the two men had written to the Speaker to say their resignations were not valid, and this has cast doubt in the matter.

The political intrigue in the state looks set to continue as both PR and BN are understood to be actively trying to lure each other’s assemblymen.

With this scenario, the Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin is likely to be also considering the possibility of dissolving the assembly and calling for fresh elections.

In a press conference at the Perak DAP headquarters here, Ngeh added that it was not up to the speaker nor the EC to conduct any enquiry into the validity of the letters but to act on them.

“A dispute can be taken up in court. We are not saying there should be no avenue for redress but that grievances should be taken to the courts,” he said.

He added that while PR did not want to pursue the matter in court, it would have to weigh up its options once the 48 hours were up.

He said that the EC’s refusal to call by-elections clearly showed biasness against the PR government although he sidestepped questions of whether the EC was siding with BN.

Ngeh however said that the accusation of bias would be retracted if the EC reversed its decision. -- TMI

BN Govt blocks Perak plan to award land titles - malaysiakini

By Adib Zalkapli

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 23 — The federal government has put a damper on Perak's Pakatan Rakyat government's plan to award freehold titles to villagers in the state, by saying the move violates the National Land Code.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today that state governments could only issue freehold titles for land intended for federal and public use.
"However the Perak state government has voiced its intention to award freehold titles for planned and new villages in the state.
"As we are all aware, the National Land Council was formed according to the Federal Constitution for the purpose of coordinating the national land policy for uniformity. Therefore, the council decided that a special meeting be convened in the near future to discuss the matter," said Najib after chairing the National Land Council meeting here.
He added that the move by the Perak government is unconstitutional and has to be agreed to by the council.
"As far as the policy and the constitution are concerned, it cannot be done unilaterally. It has to go through the National Land Council, and the decision must be adopted by the council," said Najib.
When asked the Perak government's reasons for presenting the proposal, Najib said: "They have their reasons but whatever it is, it cannot go against the national land policy."
Early this month, Perak state executive councillor Ngeh Koo Ham reportedly said 149,000 people living in 349 planned and 134 new villages in the state could now apply for their freehold titles, adding that the titles would be issued within two weeks.
Ngeh also claimed that the move did not violate the National Land Code, saying that the state government had consulted a former Court of Appeal judge and a panel of experienced lawyers.
Soon after it won Perak in the March general election, the PR government had announced the plan to award land titles to new villagers, in what was a popular move seen as an attempt to reward voters there.
The federal government's move to block the plans will certainly result in more friction between PR state governments and Putrajaya. -- TMI

PERAK MB ORDERS SEDC CEO TO SUBMIT REPORT RM100M LOSSES - malaysiakini

IPOH, Nov 6 - The Perak Government has ordered State Development Corporation chief executive officer Datuk Shamsudin Hashim to submit a detailed report on more than RM100 million losses suffered by several subsidiaries.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said the losses suffered were actually a cumulative figure by several subsidiary companies and not by one company as reported on Friday. The report is inaccurate, not one company with a RM50,000 paid-up capital incurring more than RM100 million losses.
“It's a cumulative figure involving several companies,” he told reporters after a meeting with Perak Penghulus' Assocation here today.
Asked whether the losses were incurred from foreign investments, Mohammad Nizar said they were mainly from investments besides various other aspects.
“Investments made in and outside the country ended up in losses. Besides that, several housing projects cannot be sold. Hence, several companies accumulated the losses over a long period,” he said.
Mohammad Nizar said the state government would make public the reasons for the huge losses after perusing the report.
Asked whether there was any truth in earlier claims that the losses also stemmed from failed foreign investments by one subsidiary company, Cherry Blossom Sdn Bhd, he said: "It is one of them and I will confirm it later."
The Perak State Development Corporation, set up in 1971 under the Perak State Development Corporation Enactment, has six subsidiaries.
They are Perak Corporation Bhd, Maju Perak Holdings Bhd, Perak Industrial Resources Sdn Bhd, Kuda Sejati Sdn Bhd, Star Career Sdn Bhd and Perak E-Organization Sdn Bhd.
Cherry Blossom is one of the 18 subsidiaries of Star Career. - Bernama

Perak To Approve Land For 18 Islamic Religious Schools

Hangpa nak cari kes apa lagi lepas ni hah......

IPOH, Sept 3 (Bernama) -- The Perak government will approve land to be given to 18 private Islamic religious schools like the allocation handed over to nine Chinese independent schools, recently.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said the religious schools comprising nine primary and nine secondary schools had applied for 200ha of land to open up a plantation."They have set up a cooperative for the purpose. We have approved the application in principle," he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.
Mohammad Nizar was commenting on a call from Perak Umno Youth to the state government to approve land for Islamic religious schools and Tamil schools as it had approved 1,000ha of land to nine Chinese independent schools. He said the state government was also considering applications for over 1,00ha of land from various Islamic educational institutions like the Al-Quran memorisation institutes and pondok religious schools.
Mohammad Nizar said the state government had also approved an initial allocation of RM1.3 million to the 18 religious schools which were in deplorable state. He said the state government would spend RM3.1 million a year by increasing the monthly allowance of 3,120 fardu ain (obligatory practice) teachers from RM500 to RM575 and the monthly allowance of Islamic kindergarten teachers from RM450 to RM575, both since three months ago.On the Chinese independent schools, he said they would be forming a non-profit company to look after their operations which run into RM10 million a year.
"This is the way we can help them in the long run. They can plant oil palm for quick return as they can reap the harvest in only two and half years. A yearly financial aid of RM30,000 from the state government is not enough," he said.
Meanwhile, Perak Education, Local Government, Housing and Public Transport Committee chairman Nga Kor Ming said the Chinese independent schools had never received any financial aid from the federal government. He said the schools had been having deficit budget yearly and had to deploy students to collect donations during school holidays.-- BERNAMA

MB Perak Desak BPR Mohon Maaf

Aug 22, 08

Rabu lalu, pengarah BPR Perak, Samsiah Abu Bakar memberi butir-butir mengenai penangkapan mereka.
