Selangor Pas commissioner Datuk Dr Hasan Mohamad Ali, who is also a state executive councillor, said today that the party would help the state government find a more suitable candidate.
Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim announced yesterday that Low, who is PKNS corporate and accounts deputy general manager, would be appointed acting general manager for a year following the retirement of Datuk Harun Salim at the end of October.
The appointment also did not go down well with the corporation’s staff. At the Selangor State Assembly, their representatives, led by PKNS Senior Officers Association president Idris Ishak, submitted a memorandum of protest to Khalid during recess.
Hasan told reporters later that he had discussed the matter with Khalid who had indicated his willingness to shorten Low’s tenure if Pas was able to come up with suitable candidates.
Hasan said he had asked Khalid why two most senior officers — Deputy General Manager (Administration) Md Nasir Md Arshad and Deputy General Manager (Technical) Abdul Ghani Hassan — were not appointed to succeed Harun.
He said Khalid had told him that Low was appointed because of her professionalism and administrative ability but Pas was of the view that the two deputy general managers had their own strengths and should have been considered for promotion.
Hasan said Khalid wanted the new general manager to bring reforms to PKNS and dignify the rights of bumputeras in trade, business and economy in urban areas, town outskirts and new development areas despite the fact that Low was not a bumiputera.
He said Pas would hold a meeting soon to look at the list of party members who could bring PKNS to greater heights. - Bernama

Pakatan Rakyat is about multi-racism. Since PAS is a member of the group, why are they bringing racial issues up at this juncture? They sound no better than UMNO. Back in the late 80s, I was recruited by the state government to turn around a company. They felt they would like to give a non-Malay a chance to improve the performance of the company since the two previous managers (both Malay) failed to do so. For five years the company was running at a loss until the Mentri Besar decided enough is enough. Turn the company around or sell it off, that was the order. We made money in 6 months after I took office and within 3 years we made so much to a tune of millions that a public listed company bought it over. As the company progresses, the staff mainly Malays were glad I was there to do a job and they benefitted in the process with 2 months bonuses paid, an increase in service points and an increase in salary as well. Where everywhere companies were retrenching staff, mine kept their jobs. So why bring up race? Give the job to anyone who can perform, be he/she Indian, Chinese, Kadazan, Bidhayu, Eurasian, Muruts, etc. Our national airline, MAS, is currently headed by an Iban and is doing fairly okay. I therefore rest my case.
The Malays just want the handouts. They don't know the meaning of meritocracy, no matter if it was PAS or UMNO. It isn't the Party nor religion, it is just Malay.
Lets see if Khalid has the guts to stick it out and prove a point.
i not know why Khalil appointed Low as the general manager but to be fair if she possesses the capability why don't just let her has a try. To develop Malay should not always depend on Malay. In fact our aim should develop everyone. If u know China history u will know China ever appointed some one who are not Chinese as higher ranking officer, for example, appointed a preacher to be scholar of astronomy, this position is very important even emperor also have to consult with him before any ceremony or festival one more example Cheng Ho, who is Muslim or known as Hui Hui. Even in US a black man also vie for premier.
Obviously certain people very narrow in their mindset and frankly i have big doubt how they going to develop their race without meritocracy mindset. Surprisingly PAS as part of PR who against racism but now become UMNO style.
Tan Sri Khalid should stick to his decision. Low appointment is based on merit and professionalism, so what the big fuss?
If Low can perform then why not?
Tak habis habis isu racist, look what had happened around us when race is the priority for job selection.
Di Universiti pun dah nak lingkup.Nak meluat tingkah laku wakil rakyat, tak ada rationality, cari lah yang terbaik demi kebaikan negara dan rakyat. Tak payah nak bersendiwara, if he or she is good allow them the space to prove they are worthy of the job offered.
PAS is one party that will never changed. it is always about race and more race.
what happened to PAS slogan
PAS untuk semua or is it just talk only.
god save our country.
ameen.
ya, i told my family we will no more believe PAS, a bit regret to vote PAS, but we also dun like UMNO i think the best way is sleep at home....
