YB Zul vs Wanita MCA National Chairwoman

Salam 2 all.

The STAR today 17 Jamadil Akhir 1430 / 11 June 2009 (at page N6) carried a statement by Wanita MCA national chairwoman Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun condemning Kota Baru Municipal Council that has enforced standards on women's sportswear in public park. She was quoted as saying "no one had the right to infringe on the way people dress..". She further said "this is an internationally recognised right".
And may I ask the madame what right is that-to wear tght shorts, mini skirts, breast hugging t-shirts, tight shorts for men?!
And the only thing KBMC did was to regulate the wearing of decent dressing in public park. That doesn't include tight shorts, mini skirts, breast hugging t-shirts. And no tight shorts for muslim man too. And I don't see anything wrong with that ruling.
The park belongs to the public, and used by members of the public from all walk of life. Right from small children to the oldies, Muslim and non-Muslim, boys and girls. They have every right to enjoy the use of the public park, without interference of this scantily dress man or women. And KBMC being the public authority has every right, in fact legal and moral obligation to ensure the continued enjoyment of the public park by members of the public.I want to ask Datin Paduka Chew, what is this "intenationally recognised right". Who set this "internationally recognised right"? Whose standard is being used to set this "internationally recognised right"? Or is it just a sweeping statement without any justification whatsoever?!
Every society has its own standards, values and ethics that it adheres to. What may be right to you may be a wrong to others. You have no right to impose your so call "international value" on others.
Look at the news carried also in The STAR today at page W37, where colleges in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh enforced new ruling that female students would be banned from wearing jeans and other western clothes.. A growing number of colleges in Uttar Pradesh "have decided to outlaw jeans, shorts, tight blouses and miniskirts in campus..". And it carry with it a threat "that girls who choose to wear jeans will be expelled from the college!".
Now I wonder what our MCA Wanita Chief would say over this new regulation by the North Indian authority including the renowned Lucknow University?Another infringement of your "international right standard" madame? May be you want to write a letter to them condemning them for not following your "international standard"!Res ipsa loquitor madame.Grasias senorita.
