"Baik hang keluar UMNO lah Nazri" : Mahathir

Mahathir memang ada dendam kesumat terhadap Nazri ... maka bertambah-tambah angin lah orang tua ni bila Nazri kata dia "racist" ...

KUALA LUMPUR - Former prime minister, Dr Mahathir Mohamad has called on Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Nazri Aziz to quit the party for calling him a racist over the Biro Tata Negara (BTN) issue.

Nazri had yesterday called Mahathir a racist for supporting and defending the BTN programme which has been slated for a revamp after severe criticism for not keeping with 1Malaysia spirit.

Mahathir had said yesterday that there was no need to revamp BTN's training modules in the current form and that it was suitable for instilling the patriotic spirit among Malaysians.

'Umno is also racist'

Opening a seminar on the Malaysia-Indonesia Economic Co-operation, Mahathir said that if Nazri had described him as racist then Nazri himself should quit because then it would mean that Umno is a racist party.

He said that since Nazri belongs to a racist party, the minister must then resign from the party deemed to be racist.

"Nazri says I am a racist. Umno is a racist party, it caters to the Malays. If he feel that he does not belong to the racist party he should resign from the party."

What Nazri has to say

Nazri, in reply, said: "That is the most stupid statement that I have heard in my life. It only confirms what I have said all along."The bigger concept is the Barisan Nasional (coalition). This party (Umno) was formed and it was not decided by me. I joined because I wanted to serve the government. I wanted to serve the people and that was the platform prepared for me."He said Mahathir was instrumental in making what Umno is today.

"I am right in the sense that if Umno is a racist party, he was a president of a racist party, so he is a racist, lah," said Nazri in Parliament."The argument does not make him less of a racist," he added.

Moderating influence

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin weighed in on the matter, saying that calling Mahathir a racist was "rather extreme".
A Bernama report quoted him as saying that Mahathir had contributed much to the country and was still capable of offering useful ideas."So, to label him a racist is rather extreme. He (Nazri) is my friend too but I don't know how it (labelling Mahathir) could have come about.

Under the country's political situation today, many people can misinterpret," he told Malaysian journalists in Tokyo, where he is on a trade and investment mission. - malaysian mirror
