Nov 8: A PKR spokesman has called for disciplinary action against prime minister Najib Razak and Agriculture minister Noh Omar, saying both had lied in parliament over the controversy surrounding a company linked to UMNO Wanita head Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
The party's strategic director Rafizi Ramli claimed that the duo had misled parliament over the RM250 million allocated for the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC), owned by Shahrizat's husband Mohamad Salleh.
“NFC’s financial record showed the first loan amounting some RM130 million was taken in 2008. On March 31, 2009, NFC made a second drawdown totalling RM120 million, straight into its Maybank account,” Rafizi said in a statement.
Last week, echoing Noh, Najib told parliament that only RM181.9 million from RM250 million was given to NFC todate.
The company has been under public scrutiny after the Auditor General reported that it had only produced 3,289 heads of cattle, or a mere 41.1 per cent of the target set in 2010.
For the financial years ending December 31, 2008 and December 31, 2009, NFC incurred losses amounting RM7 million and RM11 million respectively.
Discounted beef
Rafizi warned that the Federal government might just erase the RM250 million loan given to NFC, in the same way it rescued scandal-hit steel corporation Perwaja Steel.
Rafizi also accused Shahrizat of giving discounts on NFC's beef to high-end restaurants owned by her family.
“This is against the principles of good management,” stressed Rafizi.
