Animulrasyid tetap "suspected criminal" : Ketua Polis Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 — The Selangor police chief maintained today that Aminulrasyid Amzah was a “suspected criminal” when policemen gave chase to the car the 14-year-old was driving before he was shot to death two weeks ago.

Deputy Commissioner Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar also declined to apologise for allegedly tainting the boy’s reputation as demanded by Aminulrasyid’s family yesterday.

Khalid said the very reason why the cops had given chase to the schoolboy on the day of his death was because he was a “suspected criminal”.

“Is it wrong to say that he is a suspected criminal?” he told The Malaysian Insider this morning.

Khalid denied that the police had called Aminulrasyid a “robber” and said the term used was “suspected criminal”.

“We did not say he was a robber. My officers said they acted in such a way because the boys were suspected robbers. That was why they chased them that way. Actually, they did not say suspected robbers... it was suspected criminals,” he clarified.

Khalid also insisted that the police had not acted out of the ordinary by slapping the term “suspected criminals” on the 14-year-old and his friend, Azamuddin Omar, 15, who had also been present during the time of the incident.

Aminulrasyid was gunned down after a 6km car chase on April 26 after he, according to police, allegedly attempted to reverse and ram into them in Section 11, Shah Alam.

Azamuddin later claimed that Aminulrasyid had never tried to endanger the police by ramming into them and alleged that he, too, had been shot at and subsequently assaulted by the cops when he alighted from the vehicle.

The case had sparked public furore with the police receiving flak for being “trigger-happy”.

In a press conference yesterday, Aminulrasyid’s family urged either the Inspector-General of Police, the Home Ministry or Khalid to issue a formal apology for accusing the youth of being a robber.

The accusation, they claimed, tainted Aminulrasyid’s reputation as well as that of his family’s.

“We want an apology to clear his name,” said his uncle, Kamarudin Hassan.

The family and its lawyer, N. Surendran, also demanded for an investigation into Azamuddin’s testimony that he was shot at and beaten by the police.

Surendran said this was tantamount to “attempted murder” and “assault” by the officers.

When asked if the police would open a separate investigation into Azamuddin’s claims, DCP Khalid said: “We will soon give a proper press statement to all the media on that.”

Police corporal Jenain Subi was charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304(a) of the Penal Code on Monday. He has since posted bail and the court has fixed June 10 for mention. - TMI

Tambahnya, ketika kereta masih bergerak, polis masih melepaskan tembakan walaupun mangsa sudahpun meninggal dunia.

"(Aminulrashid) sudah meninggal tapi kaki dia masih lagi tekan minyak," kata Aminuddin ketika ditemubual Karpal Singh.

"(Cermin) tingkap sudah retak pada masa itu... Saya terjun keluar," katanya lagi. mkini

Lebih 60,000 mahukan keadilan di Facebook adik Aminulrasyid

Anger against police over Aminul’s death building up on Facebook

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal
KUALA LUMPUR, May 4 — Last Sunday, Aminulrasyid Amzah was just a normal 14-year-old schoolboy who hung out with friends, watched football. He had a family, a life. He did not have 60,000 fans on Facebook.

Today, a week after he was shot dead, more than 60,000 fans have signed up on a Facebook fan page demanding justice and expressing growing anger and concerns over cases of police violence.

A few other Facebook groups have sprung up too. In contrast, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s Facebook page has nearly 170,00 fans while Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has attracted nearly 83,000 fans.

Titled “We hate the cruelty of Malaysian police-Justice for Aminulrasyid,” the main Facebook group which had been set up for less than a week has gathered a strong following with many people voicing out their concerns over what had happened to the schoolboy.

The group’s ‘aims’, as stated on the information section of the page are to “open the eyes of people so that they are alerted with issues concerning injustice.’

“We want to show how sick the police institution is, this is not the first case. The Inspector-General of Police is also involved with so many scandals..To the police, please do not just talk rhetoric, with your “mesra, cekap, amanah” motto, nothing is done! We want justice to be served in this case.

“In the laws of Islam (Qisas), a life taken will be repaid in full with another life. If the police are guilty, they must also be shot in the head. Allahuakbar!” said the statement on the page.

Based on the vast array of comments posted by Aminulrasyid’s “fans”, what is clearly evident is the growing discontent and anger towards the police force in the wake of the shooting.

Comments on the page contained strong language, some offensive, criticising the police force for firing the fatal shot at Aminulrasyid and urged the policemen involved to come forward to assist in the investigations.

“Al-Fatihah to brother Aminul, those who are responsible, if you are really guilty please admit your guilt and apologise openly so that his soul can rest in peace. You may escape punishment from this world but what about the afterlife later on? Maybe there was a misunderstanding when it happened, but there’s no need for hiding the truth just to absolve yourself from guilt. Remember that the Almighty knows everything that happens,” said a posting.

Other comments however were not so tactful.

“Woi you police swines! Just because you wear a uniform that means you can show off? Try and remove the uniform, we’ll see who’s the man, who falls and who stands!!!” said a fan known as “Pahlawan Driff.” The group now has no administrators but includes Aminulrasyid’s friends, school teachers, journalists, activists, as well as other members of the public.

Over 180 discussion topics have been related to discuss the incident and there are at least 12 video postings of Press conferences given by Aminulrasyid’s family were also uploaded. Some 300 pictures have also been uploaded.

There were also postings by people urging witnesses who were present during the shooting on Monday morning (last week) to come forward to Shah Alam MP, Khalid Samad to assist with the investigations.

“Dear all, Let stop all this non-sense, we need more witnesses in adik Aminul’s case, for those happened to be there at the crime scene on that night, please steps forward,,,,contact YB Khalid Samad, he promised to assist,” said “SusuTeh.”

The Shah Alam MP had been responsible in accompanying the main witness who was with Aminulrasyid in the car when he was shot to the police station to provide his account over what happened.

DAP National Chairman and veteran lawyer Karpal Singh has confirmed his appointment as legal counsel by the deceased’s family and is due to visit the crime scene later on in the afternoon.

According to initial reports, the Form Three student was shot in the head when he tried to reverse his car into four policemen after a high-speed chase, just 100 metres from his home in Section 11 last Monday.

Police also reportedly shot the tyres of the Proton Iswara to stop the vehicle during the incident on early Monday morning a week ago.

A parang was also reportedly found in the car but this account has been disputed by witnesses and the family - TMI

GPMS tawar keluarga Aminulrasyid peguam pemerhati

TERKINI

— Bernama

Aminul ditembak : Khalid mahu badan penyiasat antarabangsa

Khalid wants international probe on Aminul’s death
By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal
PETALING JAYA, May 1 — Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim wants an “internationally-accredited panel” to investigate Aminulrasyid Amzah’s death in a police shooting.

He welcomed the government’s independent panel monitoring the 14-year-old schoolboy’s death but stressed that the panel must be “fair and balanced.”

“I thinks it’s alright, as long as they (the government) have the right people to look into the case.

“But the issue here is that its best to have an international panel, one that is at least internationally accredited,” said the Selangor MB.

It is understood that the panel will not consist of any politicians from either side of the political spectrum.

Aminulrasyid was shot dead by the police while allegedly driving his friend’s car and fleeing upon collision with another car in the wee hours of the morning in the suburbs of Section 11, Shah Alam.

Both Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional have been quick to capitalise on the issue, visiting the deceased’s family and using it as a political issue to mobilise more support from the grassroots.

“Take a look at the late Benazir Bhutto, a panel was brought from the United Nations (UN) to investigate. That’s how Malaysia should do it.

“We do not want a panel that creates a mockery of justice,” added Khalid. - TMI

Pembunuhan Aminul : Khalid bawa saksi kedua

Khalid Samad reveals 2nd witness in Aminul’s death

By Neville Spykerman

SHAH ALAM, April 30 — A second witness has come forward to claim that Aminulrasyid Amzah did not reverse his car the morning he was shot dead by police, Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad said today.

He urged the police must “face up the truth” and reveal all that happened when the 14-year-old schoolboy died.

“It’s nonsensical for police to maintain he was shot while trying to reverse into them.” the Shah Alam PAS divisional leader said.

He disclosed that a second witness has claimed Aminul did not reverse his car nor was there a parang as reported in the press.

According to the police report by Zafrullah Ahmad Zainal Abidin, there was a series of loud explosions before the car crashed.

The 27-year-old, who lived next to the house where the car crashed in a drain, was at the scene when police searched it, and did not see anything being removed from it.

Khalid said the statement by Zafrullah was consistent with the first witness who was with Aminul in the car and contrary to initial press reports.

Khalid accompanied Zafrullah to the police station last night and said the witness statement was recorded by an investigation officer till 2am.

Khalid appealed for more witnesses to come forward so the ‘jigsaw of what actually happened can be pieced together, especially since the deceased and his family’s good name is still in doubt.

He also called on Selangor Police Chief Datuk Khalid Abu Bakar to withdraw his statement that politicians were trying to politicised the case.

“Those remarks are uncalled for. This is my constituency and I cannot just look away.” Khalid said.

He pointed out the police should be grateful because it was he that also brought the first witness to the police station to lodge his report on Monday night.

“We were elected to look into the welfare of the people, not just road and drains.”

He also lashed out at the Inspector General of Police for still blaming the schoolboy for the incident.

“Yes he committed an offence by driving without license but question remains on why he was shot in the head after the tyres of the car he was in were shot out.”

He said Tan Sri Musa Hassan should not try to divert the issue.

He also described Musa’s outburst — to call off his men, if the public was not happy — as unprofessional.

“He is paid to serve the people and if they want at explanation he cannot thumb his nose at the public.”

He acknowledged there were good cops who carry out a thankless job but added standards and an examples must be set

“We know the danger they face but breaches of standard operating procedures cannot be condoned”.

He said there has been other similar cases including single mother Norizan Sallehn, who was shot five times by police but who survived.

He also cited the case of A.Kugan who died in police custody and political aid Teoh Beng Hock who died after being questioned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission as other questionable fatalities involving the authorities.

“The police needs to bite the bullet, face up the truth and let this be the last case,” he concluded - TMI
