KUALA LUMPUR, June 17 – Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said PAS, DAP and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) must state their stand clearly on the formation of a unity government.
He said that PAS, which had suggested the formation of the unity government, must also give a clear explanation and details on the idea.
“We want to know what is their actual stand, if there is no consensus among themselves (Pakatan Rakyat), it’s better to state this, so that when a response is required from Umno and the Barisan Nasional (BN), we won’t have any objection,” he said.
“We agree to discuss, our stand is quite clear but they start changing their posts, they have varying goalposts because they don’t know how to handle internal politics as there are differing views,” he told reporters before a meeting with the delegation to the Commonwealth Education Ministers Conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), here today.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister, said this when asked to comment on the statement by PAS secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali, who wanted the PKR and DAP to be included in discussions with Umno on the proposal to set up a unity government.
Muhyiddin said Umno and the BN were ready to discuss the proposal but PAS must explain the unity government beforehand. – Bernama
