DSAI to Zul : You will be buried in the next election

By Clara Chooi
KUALA LUMPUR, March 6 — PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said today that the sacking of Zulkifli Noordin was nothing personal against the rebel MP but a move to uphold the principles of Pakatan Rakyat.

In justifying the severe punishment, Anwar explained at a ceramah in Kepong tonight that the sacking was not due to “political expediency”.

“If it was political expediency alone, then we will not sack Zul Noordin ... no, it is because of principles, it is because of Pakatan, it is because of the ideals that we fight for and our struggles,” he said.

For these principles, Anwar added, the party “had to” sack those who do not support the multiracial stance of Pakatan.

“Our conscience is clear. Zul, it is nothing personal. It is a question of principles,” he said.

Zulkifli was sacked by the party today after its supreme council decided to endorse the recommendations made by the party’s disciplinary board.

He was ordered the face the board after infringing a party gag order and lodged a report against Shah Alam PAS MP Khalid Samad over the “Allah” issue.

Zulkifli has strongly opposed the Pakatan’s open acceptance of a High Court ruling that allowed a Catholic weekly publication to use the word “Allah” in reference to God in its published works.

Anwar also said that PKR would not allow anyone to hold it at ransom by issuing demands to the party at their whims and fancies.

“No one can hold us to ransom, no one should give us ultimatums. If you want to stay, you support the principles of Pakatan. If you do not support, you leave,” he said.

He added that those who refused to support Pakatan could go and join other parties.

“You can join MCA, Gerakan or Umno and you will be buried in the next elections. I guarantee it,” he said.

Zulkifli had insisted that the disciplinary board comprise only Muslims but this demand was turned down repeatedly.

As a result, the now-Independent MP staged a walkout from a hearing before the board on Thursday. - The Malaysian Insider
