BALIK PULAU: An eleven-year-old boy and his 12-year-old girlfriend were detained by the police for investigations into several cases of motorcycle theft reported in Teluk Kumbar since a month ago.
South West district police chief DSP Lai Far Hin said the two youngsters were detained yesterday afternoon while they were riding a motorcycle, which had been reported stolen last Tuesday, at a flat area in Teluk Kumbar.
Following questioning, police were led to a bush area near their homes where three motorcycles were found.
Lai said the two youngsters were believed to have hidden the motorcycles after the machine ran out of fuel. The children have been released on police bail, he added.
In another development, police detained three men who were believed to have broken into an office and stole 23 laptops, worth RM35,000, at Krsytal Point, Bayan Baru here last Monday.
Lai said the three suspects, aged between 23 and 30, were arrested about 2am at their respective houses.
