Kak Minah, Bekas Ketua Wanita PKR Pulau Pinang saman Harakah
GEORGE TOWN, 1 JUNE, 2011: Former Penang Wanita PKR chief Aminah Abdullah has taken legal action against Harakah to demand that it stops and retracts any slander and accusations aimed at tarnishing her image.
Aminah said the claims notice was sent by her lawyer from Tetuan Ambar & Azah on Monday, which gave the newspaper one week to make an official apology through the media.
Apart from the newspaper, claims notices were also issued to five individuals namely Harakah reporter Mohd Sabri Said and its Editor-in-Chief, State Wanita PKR chief Norhayati Jaafar, Bukit Mertajam PKR branch deputy chief Jab Samat and Jelutong PKR branch secretary Anuar Kamarudin.
Meanwhile, counsel Saiful Ambar Abdullah Ambar said the claims notice was regarding a slanderous article on his client titled "Kenyataan Aminah Bertentangan Syariat" (Aminah's Statement Is Against Islamic Law).
"The statement issued by the newspaper in its May 20-22 edition's Galeri Pejuang Cheruk Tok Kun section accused Aminah of asking PKR president, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, to leave her husband Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim," he said.
He said the article also claimed that Aminah received a bribe from Umno.
Aminah had previously lodged a police report at the Jalan Patani Police Station, here, on May 23.
Saiful Ambar added that should Harakah and the five individuals involved fail to issue an official apology until June 7, his client would then file a summons for slander.
