Najib dan Muhyiddin akan disaman RM55 billion

Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Najib Razak dan Menteri Pelajaran Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin mungkin akan menerima saman pertama dalam bahasa Tamil, di samping bahasa Melayu yang disyaratkan.

Barisan Bertindak Hak-Hak Hindu (Hindraf) hari ini berkata akan memfailkan saman terhadap lelaki pertama dan kedua Malaysia itu di Mahkamah Tinggi Kuala Lumpur pada pagi Khamis.

Pengasas bersama Hindraf P Uthayakumar dan peguam M Manoharan berkata, mereka akan memohon mahkamah mengeluarkan perintah supaya kesemua 523 sekolah Tamil ditaja sepenuhnya oleh kerajaan, setiap sekolah diberikan 10 ekar tanah dan sebuah kampus khas melatih guru India diadakan di Universiti Malaysia.

Mereka juga menuntut ganti rugi RM55 bilion setahun untuk dakwaan 55 tahun diskriminasi terhadap bekas penuntut sekolah Tamil oleh kerajaan dan sektor swasta.

"Kami sudah minta, dan minta, dan minta perkara itu ratusan kali," kata Uthayakumar yang turut mengedarkan risalah mencari sokongan di tengah-tengah perayaan Thaipusan di Batu Caves hari ini - Malaysiakini

Demo Hindraf - 109 ditahan

109 detained in ‘Interlok’ protest

KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Feb — Polis mengesahkan seramai 109 orang telah ditahan ketika protes Hindraf, yang diadakan berhubung isu novel kontroversial Interlok dan “perkauman Umno”, di ibu negara hari ini.

Daripada jumlah itu lapan adalah pemimpinnya, lapan lagi wanita dan dua orang pemberita.

Ketua Polis Kuala Lumpur Datuk Pahlawan Zulkifli Abdullah memberitahu, mereka ditahan di bawah Seksyen 27(5) Akta Polis kerana mengadakan perhimpunan haram.

Lapan pemimpin, dipercayai dua daripada mereka dari Hindraf yang telah diharamkan, disiasat di bawah Seksyen 45(1) Akta Pertubuhan.

Dua pemberita, kedua-duanya dari media alternatif, kata Zulkifli, ditahan di bawah Seksyen 186 Kanun Keseksaan kerana menghalang polis daripada menjalankan tugas mereka.

Polis suraikan "mogok lapar" Hindraf di KLCC

Polis telah menyuraikan mogok lapar lebih kurang 25 penyokong Hindraf di hadapan komplek beli belah Suria KLCC kira-kira jam 1.40 tengahari tadi.

Kumpulan penyokong Hindraf ini mula berkumpul di hadapan menara berkembar PETRONAS sekitar jam 9.00 pagi tadi, walau bagaimana pun ianya telah di halang oleh Polis Bantuan PETRONAS. Mereka kemudian beredar ke Suria KLCC bersebelahan Menara Maxis.

Polis terus memantau keadaan sehingga pada jam 1.30 mereka di minta bersurai, dan semua nya beredar pada jam 1.40.

Tiada sebarang kejadian buruk dan tiada sebarang tangkapan dilakukan.

Hindraf buat kacau di KLCC

Lebih kurang 25 penyokong Hindraf berkumpul di hadapan menara berkembar PETRONAS pagi ini untuk mengadakan mogok lapar. Walau bagaimana pun mereka telah disuraikan oleh Polis.

Buat masa ini (10.55 pagi) mereka masih berkumpul di hadapan Suria. Bilangan ahlinya juga telah berkurangan. Polis masih memantau keadaan.

HINDRAF - PKR love affair ends - malaysiakini

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 31 - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is staring at a permanent and damaging break with the Hindraf/Makkal Shakti movement after Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam resigned today as the deputy chairman of Selangor PKR.

He blamed the Pakatan Rakyat government in Selangor led by Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim for failing to fulfil the promises made to the Indian community during the March general election.

“We feel cheated, we are disappointed, nothing has been done,” he said at a packed press conference at the Crystal Crown hotel in Petaling Jaya.

Manikavasagam remains an ordinary PKR member.

At today’s press conference, he showed open hostility to Khalid, party vice-president R. Sivarasa and Selangor exco member Dr Xavier Jeyakumar, describing them as individuals who have done nothing for the Indians although they claim to be Indian leaders.

“My decision is final,” he said adding however that joining MIC is not an option. “We are exploring several other options and other party leaders have called me. However I will first talk with Hindraf chairman P. Waythamoorthy in India next week before making my next move.”

He said he will also discuss with PKR Ketua Umum Anwar Ibrahim to see whether the opposition leader would offer a fair deal for Indians.

He accused Dr Xavier of holding “too many” positions and alleged that Sivarasa had claimed to be an Indian leader but had not called for a single meeting to discuss Indian woes.

Sivarasa had said previously that as a multi-racial party, PKR cannot have Indian-centric policies and that its leaders represented all races.

However Manikavasagam rubbished that, saying PKR made specific promises to Indian voters and had failed to make good on them.

He also alleged PKR remains Malay-centric and campaigned for the Malay agenda, pointing out that Indians had not been offered positions in GLCs, state agencies and senior positions in local councils.

“Even in Kampung Sentosa where 95 per cent of residents are Indians, Khalid appointed a Malay as the ketua kampung,” Manikavasagam said.

In his two paragraph resignation letter dated Dec 31, Manikavasagam said he was resigning with immediate effect because “PKR did not view his opinions, a person elected by the people, seriously.”

A meeting to be held by over 100 PKR and Indian NGO leaders called by former PKR deputy secretary general P.Jenapala was moved from the Crystal Crown hotel to Grand Pacific for unknown reasons.
The meeting, called to discuss the problems Manikavasagam had with the PKR and how to respond to the PKR shortcomings, started at 4 pm and was also attended by Manikavasagam.

Unlike Dr Xavier or Sivarasa, Manikavasagam has strong roots in the Hindraf and Makkal Shakti movement, having cut his teeth with Hindraf leader P. Uthayakumar and his brother, the movement chairman P. Waythamoorthy.

Manikavasagam rose to prominence with Uthayakumar’s Police Watch NGO before joining PKR and taking up many Indian-based issues including the 2007 death of S. Sujatha, an actress who was romantically linked with Vell Paari, the son of MIC president Datuk Ser S. Samy Vellu.

It would be a big blow to PKR and the PR alliance if Manikavasagam quits the party and joins forces with Uthayakumar and pushes the Hindraf/Makkal Shakti movement away from the opposition into an independent force. - TMI

A SAD DEEPAVALI - malaysiakini

OCT 27 — It is a sad Deepavali for members and supporters of the Hindu Rights Action Force. Their organisation has just been outlawed and their leaders are still detained without trial under the Internal Security Act.

They have recently heard Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar's decree that their organisation was detrimental to peace, public order, security and the moral values of Malaysia

They have also heard Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan's claim that Hindraf's status was akin to a secret society.

And like many Malaysians, they are wondering why their organisation was banned just a couple of weeks after they attended a Hari Raya open house at the PWTC in Kuala Lumpur to present a card to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi asking him to release their leaders detained under the ISA.

Many of them are still puzzled on how they could be accused of gate-crashing an "open house".
Even those who don't support Hindraf — some Malaysians think the group exaggerated claims of the Indian community being marginalised — thought it was just "rude" of them to ask the five-year-old daughter of exiled Hindraf leader P. Waythamoorthy to deliver the card — deemed political by some people — to the Prime Minister at such an event.

But they didn't expect that such an out-of-protocol act — which also included some supporters of blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin, also detained under the ISA, who wore T-shirts bearing the slogans "Free RPK" and "No to ISA" at the same Aidilfitri open house — would result in the banning of Hindraf.

Waythamoorthy has said that the ban would not banish the spirit and idea that created it.
"Hindraf represents the Indian commoner, the hard-working oily-faced man who is made fun of in the streets, and the man who people step on, the man who walks past you yet you notice him not."

As no one can kill off the spirit of perjuangan Melayu in Umno, it is almost impossible to destroy the idea of Makkal Sakthi (people's power) brought about by Hindraf that helped the opposition to wrest power from four states and deny the Barisan Nasional's two-thirds majority in Parliament in the last general election.

Just days before Deepavali, a group of Indian Malaysians were arrested when they tried to send a letter to the Prime Minister's office. Among those brought to the police station was a six-year-old girl.

Earlier, Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had described the Hindraf members' presence at the Cabinet's Hari Raya open house as part and parcel of democracy.

"I don't think it was rude. That's democracy. In the United States, people demonstrate in front of the White House," he said recently.

Hindraf members did exactly the same thing at opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's Hari Raya open house in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, and instead of harassment from the organisers or the police, they were welcomed with open arms.

The opposition Pakatan Rakyat has criticised the ban on Hindraf.

"For the past few years, there were many coalition bodies, NGOs and concerned groups that have come up to champion various issues. We are surprised why only Hindraf is targeted.

"We are worried that this action to restrict civil rights will only anger the Indian community and add to more racial tension," said its spokesman Pas secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Jaffar.
However, the Dewan Rakyat Speaker recently rejected an emergency motion to debate the ban, citing "no urgency" to discuss the matter brought up by DAP vice-chairman M. Kulasegaran.

In his argument, the Ipoh Barat MP said: "Instead of using harsh, terror tactics, the authorities should engage Hindraf and resolve the fundamental problems of poverty and lack of opportunity that the Indian community faces. The ham-fisted move to ban Hindraf will only aggravate the disaffection of the Indian community towards the BN".

Many Indian Malaysians were loyal supporters of BN but Hindraf opened their eyes to problems of discrimination and neglect. Some joined Parti Keadilan Rakyat while others the DAP but many more have remained non-partisan

For many Indian Malaysians, they hope the spirit of Deepavali — the triumph of good over evil — will prevail. The Malays too might want to remember the wayang kulit epic about the triumphant return of Seri Rama and Sita Dewi after the hero rescued his wife who was kidnapped by the demon king Rawana, and that the couple later lived happily ever after.

It may be a myth to many but it is still an inspiring story despite the current sad mood for some people in celebrating this year's festival of lights. -- MI

HINDRAF SUPPORTERS RELEASED ON POLICE BAIL - malaysiakini

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 26 - The 10 Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) supporters who were remanded for assembling in front of the Prime Minister’s office on Thursday, were released on police bail today.

They left the Putrajaya district police headquarters at 1.30pm, accompanied by their lawyers, led by Gobind Singh Deo and Shah Alam MP Khalid Abdul Samad, and Kuala Selangor MP Dr Dzulkifli Ahmad.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Wira Mohammad Sabtu Osman said that the eight men and two women were released on police bail and had to report back on Nov 25.
Some 50 supporters and family members had gathered outside the police headquarters early this morning.

Eleven Hindraf supporters, including three women, were detained on Thursday after they tried to hand over to the Prime Minister’s office a memorandum calling for the release, before Deepavali, of the Hindraf leaders held under the Internal Security Act. They also brought along a six-year-old girl to display a poster promoting their cause.

One of the group, K.Shanti, was released on police bail two days ago after her statement was recorded. - Bernama

PAS OFFER TO MEDIATE ON BEHALF OF HINDRAF - malaysiakini

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 25 - Pas has offered to act as mediator in resolving the problems supporters of the outlawed Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) had with the government.

The offer was made by two leaders of the party, vice-president Datuk Husam Musa and Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub, who met with about 40 Hindraf supporters in front of the Putrajaya police headquarters here today.

The group comprised relatives and friends of the 10 Hindraf supporters being held under remand since their arrest for illegal assembly in front of the Prime Minister's office here on Thursday.

The 10 had wanted to hand over a memorandum to the Prime Minister's office asking for the release of the five Hindraf members detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) before Deepavali on Monday.

Salahuddin said the government was trying to avoid having discussions with the Hindraf supporters and Pas wanted to help mediate.

Husam said the relatives were not allowed to meet the 10 Hindraf supporters because, according to police, that was only allowed on week days.

The two Pas leaders took the group to the food court and bought them food and drinks and gave them RM5,000 as a Deepavali gift. - Bernama

HINDRAF LEADER'S WIFE AND DAUGHTER RELEASED - malaysiakini

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 24 – Police today released P. Vwaishhnnavi, 6, niece of Hindraf leader P. Uthayakumar, and her mother, K. Shanti, after detaining them overnight at the district police headquarters.

They were among 10 arrested yesterday for participating in a failed attempt to submit a letter of appeal to the Prime Minister at his office to plead for the release of all ISA detainees.
The two were freed last night but remained in the police station to accompany the others still in the lockup.

Vwaishhnnavi is the daughter of Hindraf leader K. Waythamoorthy, who has fled to London to escape arrest by the authorities.

The others will appear at the Kajang court today to face possible orders of further detention to facilitate police investigation.

It is understood that eight men and three women were detained yesterday under the Societies Act, in accordance with the Home Ministry’s Oct 15 ban on Hindraf.

Among those held was S. Jayathas, who said they were accused of participating in an illegal gathering.

“We were trying to obtain permission from the security guards for Vwaishhnnavi to submit her letter. They said that we were from Hindraf, but we insisted that we were ‘concerned Indians’ who were accompanying Vwaishhnnavi,” the Police Watch coordinator was cited as saying in Malaysia Kini. -- MI

HINDRAF LEADER IN COURT FOR SEDITION - malaysiakini

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — Hindraf leader P. Uthayakumar appeared in the Jalan Duta courts today, facing a charge of sedition for allegedly publishing seditious materials in a letter addressed to British Prime Minister Gordon Brown last November.

The Internal Security Act detainee’s trial, which was scheduled to begin at 9am in front of Sessions Court judge Sabariah Othman, was delayed as she ordered the court to stand down until Uthayakumar, a lawyer, was produced in court.

The four-member prosecution team, led by DPP Raja Rozela Raja Toran, said it would be presenting four witnesses today. Uthayakumar is represented by M. Manogaran and N. Surendran. He was among five Hindraf leaders detained under the ISA last December for their role in the movement.

The defence asked the court to stand down slightly after 11am as they wanted to speak to their client. -- MI

COPS GRILL HINDRAF LEADERS FOR TRESPASSING, ILLEGAL ASSEMBLY AT OPEN HOUSE - Malaysiakini

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 – Accompanied by dozens of supporters, three Hindraf leaders - S. Jayathas, K. Selvam and K. Shanti, wife of the movement's chairman, P. Waythamoorthy - presented themselves at the Dang Wangi district police headquarters to have their statements recorded today.

They are being investigated for illegal assembly and trespassing, under Section 27 of the Police Act and Section 447 of the Penal Code, during the Prime Minister's Hari Raya open house early this month.

Hindraf leaders and supporters had gone to the open house to present Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi with a teddy bear and a greeting card with a message urging the premier to release the five Hindraf leaders currently held under the ISA.

Notices asking the three to assist in the investigation were sent on Friday. They were questioned today by investigating officer ASP Sidney Clyde Jeremiah for more than an hour.

"This is an absurd, ridiculous abuse of police power and a blatant example of a politically motivated police investigation," said lawyer N. Surendran, who is representing the three.
"This is an intimidation, harassment, continuing another chapter in Hindraf's struggle for justice."

Jayathas greets Hindraf supporters after giving his statement at the Dang Wangi police station.He said that the investigation shows the need to reform the police force. Surendran was also outraged by the questions thrown at the suspects.

"The questions echoed what the government leaders have been saying," he said. "The line of questioning confirms that the police are not independent and only serve their political masters."
According to Surendran, the trio were asked whether it was proper for them to attend the open house and whether they were in the right attire.

"I can confirm that no offence was committed, it was an open house and they were just exercising their democratic rights," he said.

Lawyer Latheefa Koya, who was also present, said her clients invoked Section 112 (2) of the Criminal Procedure Code for all 28 questions asked by the police, which allows them to remain silent under questioning.

She added that none of the questions suggested any criminal act by her clients. -- TMI

4 PENGOKONG, PENGIKUT HINDRAF DISIASAT POLIS PETANG INI - Malaysiakini

PETALING JAYA: Polis dijangka akan menyoal siasat beberapa pemimpin dan pengikut kumpulan Hindraf hari ini berhubung kekecohan semasa majlis rumah terbuka Aidilfitri anjuran Perdana Menteri dan anggota Kabinet di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC) pada 1 Oktober lalu.

Penyelaras pusatnya R. Thanenthiran ketika dihubungi mengesahkan empat pemimpin dan pengikut kumpulan itu telah diminta untuk hadir di Ibu Pejabat Polis Dang Wangi, Kuala Lumpur.

"Saya bersama mereka akan berada di Dang Wangi untuk memberikan keterangan dan kami akan memberikan kerjasama kepada polis," katanya kepada mStar Online.

Menurut Thanenthiran, pihak polis telah meminta mereka hadir untuk memberikan kenyataan di bawah Seksyen 111 Kanun Acara Jenayah.

Rombongan Hindraf didakwa menimbulkan kekecohan dengan memotong barisan orang ramai untuk menyerahkan patung beruang dan kad Hari Raya yang mereka dakwa mengandungi 300 tandatangan bagi mendesak pembebasan pemimpin Hindraf yang sedang menjalani tahanan.

Bagaimanapun menurut Thanenthiran, pihaknya berharap polis akan bertindak adil dengan menyiasat lebih 100 aduan yang telah dibuat ke atas Menteri Dalam Negeri, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar dan akhbar Utusan Malaysia berikutan kenyataan dan laporan yang didakwanya berbentuk hasutan dan berbau provokasi terhadap mereka.

Sebelum ini Thanenthiran mendakwa laporan muka depan Utusan pada 4 Oktober yang memetik kenyataan Syed Hamid bertajuk "Hindraf diberi Amaran " adalah tidak adil dan bersifat perkauman.

Kata beliau, pihaknya tidak jelas mengapa empat orang berkenaan dipanggil, tetapi polis juga seharusnya memanggil kesemua mereka yang hadir ketika rumah terbuka untuk mendapatkan gambaran sebenar.

"Mereka seharusnya memanggil semua yang hadir, bukan hanya kumpulan Hindraf," katanya. -- mSTAR

HINDRAF CABAR HAMID ALBAR BUKTIKAN MEREKA BIADAP - Malaysiakini

Barisan Bertindak Hak-hak Hindu (Hindraf) mencabar menteri dalam negeri dan TV3 menyiarkan rakaman lengkap rumah terbuka Aidilfitri perdana menteri yang menunjukkan penyokong mereka biadap.

Pengerusi Hindraf, P Waythamoorthy juga mengecam Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, stesen televisyen itu dan Utusan Malaysia berhubung laporan mereka yang mendakwa sedemikian.

Beliau, yang juga adik seorang lagi tokoh gerakan tersebut P Uthayakumar yang kini ditahan bawah Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA), mendakwa dua media itu "sengaja mengapi-apikan semangat perkauman" terhadap Hindraf. "Sekiranya benar tohmahan-tohmahan mereka, mengapa mereka tidak berani menayangkan gambar dan klip yang kononnya penyokong Hindraf bersikap biadap dan kurang ajar," katanya. "Sebaliknya kami mempunyai bukti kukuh yang menunjukkan yang perdana menteri, timbalan beliau dan ramai lagi menteri-menteri kabinet yang senyum panjang dan menerima salamam penyokong Hindraf dengan hati terbuka dengan semangat maaf zahir dan batin."

Waythamoorthy mengakui penyokong Hindraf merayu Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi agar membebaskan lima pemimpin gerakan itu yang kini meringkuk di kem tahanan Kamunting, Taiping sejak Disember lepas.

"Apakah rayuan ini boleh dianggap mencemar agama Islam? Motif Utusan dan TV3 mengapikan sentimen perkauman dan agama harus dikutuk oleh semua lapisan masyarakat Malaysia," katanya dalam satu kenyataan. Menurutnya, yang kini berada di London, dalam satu perjumpaan Hindraf dengan setiausaha Abdullah seminggu sebelum majlis berkenaan, mereka dimaklumkan bahawa perdana menteri "tiada bantahan" atas kunjungan mereka di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC). "

Seramai lebih 500 orang penyokong Hindraf menghadiri majlis tersebut tetapi kurang daripada 50 penyokong dibenarkan bersalaman dengan perdana menteri. HINDRAF MAHU SAMAN UTUSAN 1 JUTA

Barisan Bertindak Hak Hindu (Hindraf) mahu menyaman Utusan Malaysia sebanyak RM1 juta berhubung laporan dan komentar mengenai badan tersebut yang disiarkan akhbar itu semalam. Penyelaras pusatnya, RS Thanenthiran berkata, pihaknya sedang berbincang dengan peguamnya mengenai perkara itu dan akan memfailkan tersebut tidak lama lagi.

Menurutnya, Hindraf terganggu dengan laporan Utusan yang didakwanya penuh dengan pembohongan dan fakta yang diputarbelit mengenai kehadiran badan tersebut di majlis rumah terbuka hari raya perdana menteri di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PWTC) Rabu lalu.

Beliau mendakwa, laporan muka depan Utusan di bawah tajuk - Hindraf Keterlaluan - adalah tidak adil dan bersifat perkauman, dan seperti menyarankan bahawa Hindraf dianggotai oleh pelampau yang mahu mengganggu perayaan orang Islam dan mencemuh Islam.

Thanenthiran juga mengecam komentar tulisan Baharom Mahusin dalam kolum 'Cetusan' dalam edisi yang sama.Beliau mendakwa, penulis bersikap tidak adil dalam kritikannya, yang didakwa Thanenthiran mahu mengapi-apikan kebencian kaum dan konflik kaum.

Hindraf, katanya, amat tersinggung dengan komentar Baharum yang menyatakan "Kalau penyokong Hindraf melakukan penghinaan seumpama itu di kawasan-kawasan pendalaman yang menjadi kampung halaman orang Melayu, mereka sudah pun diajar tentang makna dan akibat berperangai kurang ajar". ... MALAYSIAKINI

HAMID ALBAR BERI AMARAN PADA HINDRAF

KUALA LUMPUR 3 Okt. – Menteri Dalam Negeri, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar memberi amaran keras kepada pertubuhan haram Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) supaya tidak menjadikan toleransi antara agama dan kaum di negara ini sebagai ‘bahan uji kaji’.

HINDAF SERBU RUMAH TERBUKA AIDILFITRI BOLEH GAGALKAN RUNDINGAN BEBAS PEMIMPIN KUMPULAN ITU

IPOH, 3 Okt (Bernama) -- Presiden MIC Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu kecewa dengan tindakan kumpulan Hindraf menyerbu Rumah Terbuka Aidilfitri Perdana Menteri dan menteri kabinet kerana ia boleh menggagalkan rundingan bagi membebaskan lima pemimpin kumpulan itu yang ditahan di bawah Akta Keselamatan Dalam Negeri (ISA).

Beliau berkata tindakan kira-kira 1,000 orang penyokong Hindraf menyerbu rumah terbuka itu di Pusat Dagangan Dunia Putra (PTC), Kuala Lumpur dua hari lepas akan menyebabkan segala rundingan antara MIC dengan kerajaan bagi membebaskan lima pemimpin Hindraf yang kini ditahan di Kamunting gagal.

Katanya kerana taksub untuk menjadi ketua, terdapat pihak yang sengaja menjadikan perkara itu sebagai isu dengan tujuan supaya kelima-lima tahanan terbabit terus ditahan.

"Sebenarnya ada pemimpin yang akan tertekan sekiranya tahanan ini bebas, segala penipuannya yang dijalankan semata-mata ingin menjadi ketua yang disanjungi dan dihormati akan berkubur.

"Saya mahu semua kaum India yang menganggotai kumpulan ini berhenti mendengar segala nasihat dan tohmahan yang dikeluarkan pemimpin kumpulan ini serta meninggalkannya," katanya kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Klinik Kesihatan Wanita Jayabalan di Hospital Pantai Puteri di sini, Jumaat.

Beliau turut mencabar pemimpin Hindraf P. Waythamoorty untuk kembali ke tanah air dan memberikan penjelasan kepada pengikutnya mengenai semua persoalan termasuk wang hasil kutipan Hindraf selama ini.

"Jelaskan kepada mereka (pengikut Hindraf), adakah permergiannya ke London untuk menuntut hak RM1 juta untuk semua pengikut Hindraf atau menghabiskan semua duit anggota kumpulannya yang dikutip dan lari ke sana," kata Samy Vellu.-- BERNAMA

KUALA LUMPUR 2 Okt. – Pertubuhan-pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) Melayu dan Islam mengutuk keras dan menyifatkan perbuatan sekumpulan penyokong Hindraf menimbulkan kekecohan pada majlis Rumah Terbuka Aidilfitri Perdana Menteri dan menteri-menteri Kabinet Islam sebagai keterlaluan, biadap dan menghina kesucian 1 Syawal.

Sambil membayangkan tindakan pertubuhan haram itu didalangi individu tertentu dengan tujuan menghancurkan perpaduan negara, mereka meminta kerajaan bertegas dan tidak melayan tekanan daripada kumpulan yang mengambil kesempatan atas kemurahan hati kerajaan.

Timbalan Presiden Gabungan Pelajar Melayu Semenanjung (GPMS), Syed Anuar Syed Mohamad berkata, perbuatan kumpulan berkenaan adalah menghina perayaan besar umat Islam, tidak bertamadun dan tidak bertanggungjawab. ... seterusnya

HINDRAF MEMBERS AT THE UMNO RAYA OPEN HOUSE

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 1 - Some 300 Hindraf supporters attended the Cabinet open house today to ask Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Badawi to release the Hindraf 5 and allow their chairman P.Waytha Moorthy to return to Malaysia safely.

Waytha is currently in exile in London. His wife, K. Shanti, gave Abdullah a gift basket containing a teddy bear and a Hari Raya card, which Hindraf claims has 300 signatories.

According to ideological coordinator W. Sambulingam, the card extended the group's "forgiveness" to the prime minister for arresting the five Hindraf leaders under the Internal Security Act and asked "in the spirit of Hari Raya, that he release them."

"When I shook his hand, I asked him when he would release the detainees and when my husband would be allowed to return home," Shanti told reporters.

"He said he would let me know on another day," she added.

Shanti was accompanied by her six-year-old daughter and about 70 supporters who were allowed into the dining hall.

However, some 200-odd supporters were not allowed in. Shanti said that, as a protest, none of the Hindraf supporters ate at the open house.

"We are not here to eat your food, we are here to seek the release of our leaders," she said.
Sambulingam added that this was yet another attempt to avoid the group.

"We have his open invitation to the event, so we don't understand why the officials were trying to block us," he said.
